Jelani Travel provides the lodging throughout your entire stay unless indicated otherwise. While we take care of the complete itinerary, airfare should be arranged separately and independently. Our travel assistant can book your flight if you prefer.
Each trip the travel group is approximately 15-30. We like to keep it intimate because most people don’t know each other. This is the beauty of our trips, our travelers join as strangers and often leave as friends.
None of our public trips are women only but we do design custom private trips that can be for women only to cultivate sisterhood and community-two ideals extremely important to us.
Of course! We love to see friends travel together. Book with your best friend or a crew and we’ll take care of the rest.
We’ve got you covered! Each trip will have a private Facebook group, conference call, passport and visa assistance, suggested packing list, general travel guide, frequent email correspondence and detailed destination FAQs to support the participants in preparation to ensure you’re more than ready for your Jelani experience. You are free to purchase the mandatory travel insurance from any company that you choose. If you’re wondering where to start, WeTravel, our booking platform, provides a link to purchase 3rd party travel insurance when booking and checking out for your trip. They also provide reminders on most follow up emails if you’d like to purchase insurance after booking your trip.
Throughout the 6-10 day trip (depending on the locale), half of one day is dedicated to serving youth in an impoverished community where we focus on programming and aid based on two items–the needs of a particular group and the skill set and passions of our travelers.
To make changes or updates to your trip, log in to your WeTravel account to make any changes or updates. If there is a change that you cannot make in your account, email hello@gojelanitravel.com to make a request in writing.
Cancellations must be submitted in writing to hello@gojelanitravel.com.
All trips are non-refundable and non-transferrable.
To make a payment in advance of the due date or to pay the remaining balance, simply log in to your WeTravel account, select Payments and follow the prompts on the website.
You can share with a traveler of your choice or we can select a roommate for you based on the common interests noted in our information request form as part of our Roommate Matching Program. When you make your deposit and register for the trip, you will be able to indicate that you would like to be matched with a roommate on a first come first serve basis. If a roommate is not available, you will be required to upgrade to single occupancy. Single occupancy details are listed on the check out page.
Traveler safety is of the utmost importance to us. This means that we are constantly monitoring for any safety notifications or recommendations for all our destinations. We have trusted and knowledgeable tour guides and a Jelani Travel ambassador present for all tours. You’ll also have access to our travel concierge to assist you in preparing for travel in advance. In addition, solo travelers can connect with other travelers through our private Facebook group after booking. We have implemented COVID-19 safety precautions to include masks, hand sanitizer and utilizing government-approved COVID-19 protocol hotels and lodging.
We can help. We partner solo travelers together based on common interests. A brief survey helps to identify roommate preferences, favorite music, common interests, sleep preferences and more. We use this information to match people as best as possible. Whether you’re looking for someone to split room costs or a travel buddy, our Roommate Matching program can assist.
